I absolutely recommend this Bush Tucker guided treck through our beautiful Australian bush, with the highly knowledgeable and experienced guide and owner of the park, Mike. I learnt so much about the uses and conservation of the bushland that is totally inspiring! This is an absolute must do! And to top it off we were treated to a delightfully delicious morning tea courtesy of the bush tucker and native bees.Posted on Google![]()

What an amazing morning! Right from the start we were warmly welcomed by Mike's partner Michi and young family on arrival at their eco campground ( Travellers Rest 1770). Mike's guided interactive 2 hour boardwalk tour through his ecological 'showroom',encompassed everything he is fiercely passionate about within his own flora and fauna ecosystem, and delivered in an easy to grasp manner, by an easy to like bloke! Even if this is not your usual type of tour, you will not be bored, and will come away learning so much more about the natural environment you live within. The 'come and taste' session during the tour was also another great learning experience! We thoroughly recommend adding this tour or a stay on the campground, to your 'must do's' when coming to Agnes Water/1770.Posted on Google![]()

I recently just spent two weeks at the beautiful property in which Bushtracks is hosted and i am leaving feeling soo blessed and educated. Mike really takes pride in what he does and has been living this world of survival and human integration with nature for many years now and you can definitely see that in what he does. We learnt so many things on the bushtracks tour from how to identify particular trees, Flowers’s plants and shrubs, to what berries to eat and how to test if you can eat the fruit from a tree before you do. We dove into the ecosystem of the trees and learnt about how they communicate and work with each other to survive. You name it and mike discussed it, birds, insects animals… all questions are welcome and jokes are too. We finished off with a beautiful tea and some jams and full hearts and minds. Thankyou for everything you do mikePosted on Google![]()

Meet Your Guide
Meet Mike, your local guide
Recently appointed to the board of the prestigious Savannah Guides and becoming Ecotourism certified, he brings over 27 years of experience in the field of tourism and guiding. With deep roots in the Australian native and a passion for eco-tourism, Mike weaves stories of land, plants, and culture into every tour, guiding guests through a journey of wild wonder with warmth and expertise.
Mike discovered his passion for tour guiding over 27 years ago, when travelling the vast country of Australia all the way from Perth, WA to Kakadu National Park, NT. Eventually, Mike stuck to this amazing part of the world for 20 years, guiding both in the World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park and Arnhemland. During the wet season, Mike decided to further explore the field of tour guiding and followed his passion in travelling around the country and guiding in places like K’Gari Island, the Daintree, Uluru and Katherine Gorge. Eventually Mike accepted a five-year contract with National Parks and Wildlife in managing Gunlom Campground at the Southern Part of Kakadu. During his time as campground manager, Mike was offered a role as seasonal ranger and offered guided tours at the falls, as well as complimentary evening slideshows.
Once Mike met his future wife Michi in 2010, they decided to make the move to the beautiful beachside town of Agnes Water in QLD their home and open up their own nature-campground. Their vision is to “Connect People to Nature, and Nature with People” during complimentary evening slideshows and guided tours on native bushtucker and bush medicine along a beautiful boardwalk meandering through Australian Bushland on their property. Traveller’s Rest 1770 and BushTracks Eco Tours allows Mike and Michi to spend time with their children and letting them grow up immersed in Nature – in the Bush and at the Beach!
Becoming Ecotourism certified and achieving the Eco Guide Certification in 2024 made Mike and Michi realize the value of their tour and the importance of organizations, such as Savannah Guides Enterprises. Attending the Savannah Guide Field School in Injune and Canarvon Gorge highlighted the importance of a support network of professional tour guides. All the knowledge that has been shared during the two Field Schools Mike was fortunate enough to attend has been invaluable and will definitely aid Traveller’s Rest 1770 and BushTracks Eco Tours to grow from strength to strength. Mike and Michi are extremely proud to achieve Savannah Guide Enterprise Status in such a short period of time and are looking forward to continue their involvement with like-minded, professional people connected to the Savannah Guide Enterprise.
About Us
Our Story in the Bush
Becoming Ecotourism certified and achieving the Eco Guide Certification in 2024 made Mike and Michi realize the value of their interpretive experiences. We decided to join Savannah Guide LTD., a non-profit network of professional tour guides and operators across northern Australia, dedicated since 1988 to promoting high standards in interpretation, training, and ecologically sustainable tourism. We help visitors connect deeply with the natural and cultural landscapes, aligning closely with Queensland’s Destination 2045 vision for a thriving tourism future. Being able to attend the Savannah Guide Field School in Injune/Canarvon Gorge and Mount Isa highlighted the importance of being part of a support network of professional tour guides. All the knowledge shared during the two Field Schools has been invaluable and lead to Mike being vote in as Savannah Guides Board Member and becoming Savannah Guides Enterprise in 2025.
